A quarter of Russians complained about poverty

More than half of Russians, 57 percent, consider their financial situation to be average; 18 percent are satisfied with it; and almost a quarter, 24 percent, complain about poverty. This is evidenced by the poll data of the «Public Opinion» Foundation, published on the organization’s website.

Over the past two or three months, 24 percent of respondents said about the deterioration of their financial situation, 7 percent noticed an improvement, 67 percent indicated that nothing had changed.

For the next year, optimistic and pessimistic expectations were almost equally distributed. Thus, 19 percent of the respondents believe that their financial situation will improve, and 18 percent are preparing for a worsening.

Most of all, young people are in a positive mood (35 percent expect improvement), a negative forecast is more often given by people aged 46-60 and residents of cities with a population of over one million, with the exception of Moscow.

Compared to the June survey, the share of those who speak of an average and good financial situation has grown, and the share of those who complain about a poor financial situation has fallen to a minimum in ten years. Also, the largest (44 percent) since 2012 was the share of those who do not expect any changes in the outlook for the year.

Earlier it became known that the Ministry of Economic Development intends to revise the data on income, expenses and savings of the population for 2018-2020. The department intends to submit updated data in March next year.
