Relativity Space has set itself the goal of 3D printing 95% of the rocket and sending it into orbit. The printing of the Terran 1 rocket, which they hope to launch later this year, is now complete. The company will then add Aeon engines and avionics and test the rocket.

The company says that by using 3D printing, they were able to reduce the number of parts in the rocket from 60,000 to 730 parts and significantly reduce development time. Relativity’s challenge is to bring their technology to the point where it can send printers and raw materials to Mars and just print rockets on site.
