Dedicated to the memory of Pablo Picasso

More than 40 exhibitions and conferences will be held in 38 museums in Spain, France, the USA, Germany, Switzerland, Monaco, Romania and Belgium on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the artist’s death, Radio France reports.

The organizers of the Year of Picasso action were Spain and France, since the artist was born in Spain in 1881, but spent most of his life in France, where he died in 1973 at the age of 91.

The exhibitions will be held for 18 months: from September to the end of April 2024. The French Ministry of Culture said that the events will allow «to show all the facets of the work of the most famous artist of contemporary art.»

In Europe, the first exhibition has already opened at the Reina Sofia Art Center in Madrid. In the US, the first exhibition will take place on October 20 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Picasso is known as the founder of cubism, sculptor, graphic artist, ceramist. In total, he created about 20 thousand works.
