Defense spending by NATO countries in 2021

In total, NATO this year will spend about 1.2 trillion dollars on defense – and most of these expenses, traditionally, will fall on the United States: 811 billion, 69% of the total military spending of the entire NATO. The second-largest UK will spend 11 (!) Times less: 73 billion. An impressive break!

The Balkan NATO member states will spend the least on “defense”: 0.1 billion dollars of military spending is planned in Montenegro, 0.2 billion each – in North Macedonia and Albania

It should also be noted that defense spending in NATO countries is growing quite rapidly: the growth was 24.9% compared to 2014, and Turkey was the only country that reduced military spending over these seven years (-4% compared to 2014)

In the rest of the countries – growth, while in the countries of Eastern Europe it is very, very rapid: in Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, military spending has more than doubled compared to 2014, and in Lithuania almost tripled. (by 199%)
