Ecotourism trend in Russia

Instead of depleting resource areas with mining and harmful emissions, the Russian government will develop their tourism potential. For example, the Three Volcanoes project is currently being implemented in Kamchatka. The Ministry of Natural Resources managed to reach an agreement with subsoil users, gold mining in these zones will be stopped, and a full-fledged tourist cluster will be formed.

“Just last Friday we agreed with those who took out the licenses that they would hand them over to the state and that they would not mine gold in the region of these volcanoes, a tourist center would be created there,” Minister Alexander Kozlov said.

In Kamchatka, the project of the Kronotsky Nature Reserve is also being implemented, fish are being spawned. For many years, the regional authorities have issued licenses for mining gold in rivers. After negotiations with the authorities of the region, it was decided to impose a moratorium on such production.

The concept of ecotourism in the legislation may appear already this year. In the fall, the corresponding bill must pass the second and third readings in the State Duma.
