Food prices in May 2021

On average in Russia, the consumer price index for food products in May 2021 increased by 4.9% compared to the beginning of the year

The growth leaders are the Kaliningrad Region (+ 7.3% YTD), Kabardino-Balkaria (+ 7%), Kalmykia and North Ossetia (6.5% each). More than 6%, food prices also increased in the Orenburg region, Krasnodar Territory, Belgorod and Samara regions. Note that many regions here are very developed in agricultural terms.

The lowest growth rates of food prices are in the northern regions: + 0.4% in the Arkhangelsk region and + 2.2% in Chukotka. 2.9% added food prices in the Sverdlovsk region, and then the figures are already 3% and higher

Specialists of the federal portal “WORLD OF APARTMENTS” have summed up the results of the first half of the year on the apartment rental market in Russian cities with a population of over 300 thousand people. For the first half of this year, the rent of one-room apartments has risen in price in 50 cities out of 70, two-room apartments – in 52, three-room apartments – in 50.

The growth in rates was most pronounced in Sochi: one-room apartments there grew by as much as 28.1% in six months, two-room apartments – by 19.2%, three-room apartments – by 9.9%. A significant increase in prices was also recorded in Kaliningrad (+ 17%, + 14.8% and + 11.5%), Makhachkala (+ 16.9%, + 8.9% and + 10.2%), Sevastopol (+12, 2%, + 8.6% and + 10.5%), Novokuznetsk (+ 8.5%, + 11.8% and + 7.2%), Togliatti (+ 5.3%, + 9.3% and + 9%), Nizhny Tagil (+ 7.5%, + 7.3% and + 7.9%), Tyumen (+ 3.7%, + 8.9% and + 9.4%), Saransk (+ 7.9%, + 9.2% and + 4.8%) and Bryansk (+ 4.1%, + 7.3% and + 9%).

According to the United Credit Bureau (OKB), which has information on approximately 97% of Russian borrowers, banks issued 1.7 million consumer loans (cash loans) in June 2021, which is an absolute record in the entire history of the banking sector since 1991. For the entire first half of 2021, banks issued almost 9 million consumer loans. This is 44% more than in the same period last year.

Among the 30 regions leading in terms of the number of cash loans issued, the largest increase in disbursements compared to May was in the Omsk and Volgograd regions (by 11%), as well as in the Stavropol Territory (12%). The smallest is in the Leningrad Region and the Krasnoyarsk Territory (4%), while in the Irkutsk Region the issuances remained at the same level (0%) as in the previous month. In Moscow, banks issued 6% more loans in June.
