How Russians feel about the US and ЕU

According to a study by the Levada Center (organizations performing the functions of a foreign agent in Russia), 45% of Russians surveyed said they had a positive attitude towards the United States in November 2021, versus 42%, which had a negative attitude towards them.

This is the first time since mid-2019 (and the second since 2013!) That the number of those related to the United States positively in our country has exceeded the number of their opponents. For the period 2014-2018, up to 80% of the Russian population spoke of a negative attitude towards the United States, and on average the figures were around 60%.

The attitude towards the European Union has not changed significantly over the past three months: 48% treat it well, 38% badly. But compared to the first half of the year, the attitude towards the EU has improved.

For comparison: 6.6 trillion is 6.2% of Russia’s GDP (107 trillion rubles in 2020), or 35.3% of the federal budget revenues (18.7 trillion rubles).
