More taxes for better medicine

The Levada Center (an organization recognized as a foreign agent in Russia) presents the results of the international annual monitoring study on issues important to the social sciences ISSP (International Social Survey Program).

The majority of Russians (70%) are not ready to pay higher taxes to improve medical care for the entire population of Russia; 18% are ready to pay more financially. Compared to 2011, the share of those willing to pay higher taxes for this purpose remained virtually unchanged.

The overwhelming majority of Russians (87%) believe that it is easier for rich people to get medical care compared to the poor: 77% believe that the rich can get much easier, 10% — somewhat easier.

The prevailing opinion among Russians is the need for a comprehensive program of free health care. 61% of respondents believe that the state should provide a full range of necessary medical services. A quarter of Russians (27%) are in favor of the fact that the state should guarantee only a set of basic medical services

The EU has included Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev and other Russian politicians and officials on the sanctions list. In total, there are about 100 people from Russia and Belarus on the list.

Sanctions were imposed on Alfa-Bank, Otkritie Bank, Rossiya Bank, Promsvyazbank.
