More than half of Switzerland’s glaciers have melted

The ETH Zurich, together with the Swiss Federal Research Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape, published on Monday the results of a study on ice loss in Switzerland in the 20th century, based in part on an analysis of changes in glacier topography since 1931.

«The melting of glaciers is gaining momentum. Closely observing this phenomenon and quantifying its historical extent is important because it allows us to determine the response of glaciers to climate change,» said Daniel Farinotti, co-author of the study.

More than half of the 1,400 Swiss glaciers have melted since 1931, and the rate of their melting continues to increase. This was reported on Monday by the Associated Press, citing a joint study by Swiss institutions.

Twitter hides the truth about the amount of spam and bots in the social network, and it is impossible to determine the real number of bots — there are no resources. There are also big problems with security: most of the company’s servers are running unsafe software, but incompetent management, engulfed in strife and chaos, is more important than audience growth, rather than fighting spam and hackers. For example, top managers were assigned individual bonuses up to $10 million, the payment of which depended on the number of daily active users.

Peter Zatko, former head of security at Twitter, described the situation at the company in a similar way. Which, however, is accused of simply taking revenge on the company for the dismissal, deliberately trying to harm the social network, its customers and shareholders.
