New markets for Russian oil

Russia is negotiating with Myanmar to supply energy, Major General Zo Min Tun, an official with the ruling State Administrative Council, told Bloomberg.

According to him, Myanmar hopes for a «reasonable price» for Russian fuel and expects to use it to cope with a shortage of electricity, due to which millions of citizens receive only four hours of electricity a day.

On Thursday, the head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, arrived in Myanmar and held talks on «cooperation in the energy sector,» Zo Min Tun said. Russia, he said, agreed to help with technology and specialists to restart the oil refineries that had risen after the coup.
