Scientists have presented a theoretical model of FTL travel

The scientific work appeared in the Universe Today magazine. The theory is based on the approach of the Mexican physicist Miguel Alcubierre, proposed back in 1994. According to this theory, to travel with superluminal speed, space and time must be compressed in front of the moving objects and expand behind it. In theory, a spaceship in the Alcubierre bubble could travel faster than light. However, this theory does not violate the laws of the theory of relativity due to the fact that the inner part of the bubble is an inertial frame of reference. The relativistic time dilation and mass increase will not apply to the ship, since it will remain stationary inside the bubble, and therefore in its own inertial frame of reference.

The scientists also noted that the speed of light inside the Alcubierre bubble remains unchanged. An object inside such a bubble will be able to travel a certain distance to a point faster than light that travels outside such a structure. However, this method has two problems, a solution to which has not yet been found. The first problem is the lack of technology to create such a bubble, and the second is that it is not known how to get out of it at the end of the journey.

Anomalous object crosses the Milky Way

Astrophysicists knew about the existence of the white dwarf SDSS J1240 + 6710, which they discovered back in 2015. However, only now the space object managed to arouse the interest of specialists. Moreover, the mass of the white dwarf reaches less than half the mass of the Sun, which is not typical for objects of this class. The composition of the star’s atmosphere also turned out to be anomalous, since it does not contain hydrogen and helium. The celestial body could be part of a binary system that collapsed as a result of an abrupt discharge of stellar matter.
