The authorities of Tuva have banned the use of the names of the republic in the names of sites and groups in social networks without permission. In an interview with Gazeta.Ru, Acting Minister of Justice of Tuva Buyan Khovalyg explained that such a measure is intended to protect the honor and dignity of the region and its inhabitants.
The main reason was that some groups, which had the words Tuva in their names, denigrated the honor and dignity of our republic. This violated the interests of the majority of the inhabitants of our region. Profanity was widely used in these groups. This was also one of the criteria. This law does not prohibit the use of the words Tuva, Republic of Tuva. It only establishes the procedure for using official names, – said the head of the republican Ministry of Justice.
According to the adopted law, violators face a monetary fine for the inconsistent use of the words Republic of Tuva and Tuva. For citizens up to 5 thousand rubles, for officials – 6 thousand rubles, for legal entities – up to 50 thousand rubles.
