Non-commodity non-energy export of Russia

Russia increased non-commodity non-energy exports (NOE) by 36% last year, supplying products worth more than $191 billion to foreign markets, analysts at the Russian Export Center (REC, part of the VEB.RF group) calculated. This is a historical record, according to the REC, received by RBC.

Growth in the main industries: exports of the chemical industry increased by 54%, metallurgy — by 52%, timber industry — by 43%, mechanical engineering — by 31%, food — by 23%.

The main importers of Russian products were China — $15.6 billion, Kazakhstan — $14.4 billion, Belarus — $11.4 billion, Turkey — $10.9 billion, USA — $7.9 billion.

For comparison, according to the data of the Federal Customs Service (FTS), which RBC reviewed, for the period from January to November 2021, the export of crude oil from Russia amounted to $99.4 billion (this is the main export category in monetary terms), the export of petroleum products — $61.7 billion, gas — $55 billion.

Thus, the export of the main categories of hydrocarbons from Russia (more than $216 billion), despite the achievement of a record for NOE, still exceeds it in monetary terms by 26.7%. Russia exported another $15.1 billion worth of coal
