Repository experiment

The Russian government will conduct an experiment to create a national repository. It will host free software. The experiment will run from May 1, 2022 to April 30, 2024.

As stated in the explanatory note, the e-government infrastructure software will be placed in the repository under an open license. The exception will be components that provide cryptographic information protection functions.

The experiment will involve the Ministry of Digital Development, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Rosreestr, and the Pension Fund. The final list will be approved by the Ministry of Digital Development by June 1. The repository operator will be an organization selected by the Russian Foundation for Information Technology Development.

The world analogue of such a repository is the GitHub project. It is a service for collective development and code storage. In 2021, 73 million developers used it, including from many large companies.

In the Arctic Ocean, scientists have discovered Atlantic cod and squid, which is strange, because they live much further south. The researchers wanted to take water samples, but at a depth of 200 to 600 meters they found something much more interesting — many small and several large “tourist fish”. Presumably, they were brought here by warm currents. However, according to the analysis of one of the «emigrants», it can be said that cod has been living here for about 6 years at temperatures from -2°C to -1°C.
