Russians prefer foreign stocks

Russians do not increase their investments in Russian stocks and are investing more and more in foreign securities – since last January, the share of their investments in foreign stocks soared from 4% to 16% (up to 836 billion rubles), according to data from the Bank of Russia.

A further significant increase in Russians’ investments in foreign securities may lead to the valuation of citizens’ savings, an outflow of private capital and a deterioration in the situation with banks’ foreign exchange liquidity, the Central Bank fears.
