Social Sentiment Index in Russia

In July 2021, public sentiment in Russia has deteriorated markedly compared to the previous measurement in May this year. The composite index of public sentiment (ISN), calculated by the Levada Center, dropped to 102 points after 110 points in May (minus 7% in two months).

First of all, negative changes in mood were manifested in the assessments of the prospects for the development of the situation – the index of expectations (EI) decreased by 9%, to 94 points. At the same time, pessimistic expectations are more connected with the situation in the country as a whole, rather than with personal expectations for the future.

The assessments of the family’s life prospects in the coming year worsened least of all (minus 7%). And the idea of impending changes in the political and economic life of Russia, the ability of the country’s leadership to cope with problems has deteriorated by 9-10%.
