South Korea will build a floating city

The world’s first floating city will appear in South Korea. It will be called Oceanix City. Busan city authorities have already signed a construction agreement with Oceanix and the UN.

The city will consist of several artificial islands that are not afraid of floods. They will be able to rise with sea level. Hurricane resistance will provide reliable anchorage to the bottom. The platforms will be reinforced with a limestone coating, which is several times harder than concrete.

The height of all structures will not exceed seven floors in order to reduce the influence of strong winds and a low center of gravity is obtained. Materials will be ordered locally, including fast growing bamboo.

To generate electricity, solar panels will be placed on the tops of buildings, and special installations will be able to process water into fresh water.

Vegetables and fruits want to be grown in aeroponic and aquaponic systems, complemented by traditional street farms and greenhouses — there will always be food in case of supply problems. Transportation of residents between the islands will be provided by our own boat fleet.

The final design of the city has not yet been determined, as well as the final location, but there is already a deadline — by 2025. Most likely, Oceanix City will be built near the port of Busan. According to preliminary estimates, the project will require about $ 200 million.
