Europe has overtaken Asia to become the top consumer of American oil for the first time in six years. From January to May 2022, Europe received an average of about 213.1 million barrels of crude oil, while Asia received 191.1 million barrels. The last time this happened was in 2016.
U.S. crude oil production is growing, but not fast enough to meet the needs of Asia and Europe. In addition, the Middle East appears to be limited in how much more oil it can send to Europe, writes Bloomberg.
