The Netherlands legalizes remote work

The Dutch parliament has approved a work-from-home law. If the Senate agrees with him, the Netherlands will become the first European country to officially legalize remote work, reports the BBC.

According to the bill, employees will have the opportunity to ask the employer for «remote work», if the nature of their work allows it. And such a request must be considered without fail.

TV company experts believe that in this case, neighboring countries will follow the example of the Netherlands, and this could change labor laws throughout Europe.

Some large companies, on their own initiative, have already transferred employees to a hybrid schedule, allowing part of the work to be done from home. For example, last summer more than 70 thousand employees of the Swiss bank UBS got such a chance.

The Ministry of Finance of Russia has prepared amendments to the Tax Code, which will allow collecting tax arrears not only directly from debtors, but also from their counterparties, even those who regularly pay the state.

The tax authorities will receive such a right in situations where the taxpayer, instead of repaying the debt, sent money for settlements with other persons. And they did not have “in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, an advantage in the order of execution over payments to the budget system of the Russian Federation.” In this case, the Federal Tax Service will send a request to the debtor’s counterparty company to return the money to the treasury. It will take 8 days to complete.
