The volume of gas in the storage facilities of European countries

As of October 24, 2022, in most European countries, about 30% of annual gas consumption was stored in storage facilities. Only one country provided itself with gas for a year — Latvia — where 116.6% of the average annual volume of consumption is now stored, in Austria 94.5%.

In the largest economies: German reserves account for 26.4% of the average annual consumption, France — 30.7%, Great Britain — only 1.4%.

Now European households are paying more for electricity and gas than ever, writes Bloomberg. The average retail gas price in the European Union and the UK this October was almost 18 euro cents per kilowatt-hour, twice as high as in the same month last year. Electricity costs for households soared by 67% compared to last October, to 36 euro cents per kilowatt-hour.

On a monthly basis, the average tariff for electricity increased by 3.4% in October, and for gas — by 2.5%.
