This rule does not apply to transfers in rubles

Despite the fact that from March 1, Russians are prohibited from transferring foreign currency to their accounts in banks and other financial organizations outside the country, this rule does not apply to transfers in rubles, the Central Bank of Russia clarified.

“The ban does not apply to cases when residents credit funds in rubles to their bank accounts (deposits) in rubles opened with foreign banks, including cases of subsequent conversion of rubles received to these accounts into foreign currency and its crediting to bank accounts (deposits) of residents in foreign currency opened in foreign banks,” the document says.

Russians can transfer funds in rubles to their accounts in foreign banks, later they can be converted and credited to their account in a foreign bank or transferred to another person’s account in a foreign bank
