US annual inflation

The consumer price index in the US in April amounted to 8.3% in annual terms, follows from the data of the country’s Department of Labor. The rise in prices in April amounted to 0.3% compared to March, the agency indicates.

The greatest contribution to inflation was made by the rise in the cost of housing, food, air travel and transport. In annual terms, the growth in prices for goods excluding food and energy amounted to 6.2%.

In addition, prices for medical care, recreation and household items rose in April.

Gasoline prices fell 6.1% MoM, offsetting increases in gas and electricity price indices, the report said.

The cost of energy carriers increased by 30.3% in annual terms, food — by 9.4% (a record value since 1981).
