The volume of global dividends reached a record $302.5 billion in the quarter. This is 11% more compared to the beginning of the previous year. 81% of companies that paid dividends for the first quarter increased their size, another 13% left them at the same level.
The United States, Canada and Denmark set absolute quarterly records, while in individual countries there are those where dividend payments have been significantly reduced. For example, in Japan, payments decreased by 15%, and in the UK — by 21.5%.
As for Russian companies, their payments almost tripled in the quarter. The report highlights Norilsk Nickel, which has more than doubled its dividends, and LUKOIL, with a seven-fold increase in payouts.
