Which regions of the world is China investing in?

As part of the Belt and Road program (usually translated into Russian as “one belt and one road”), China is actively investing in energy and infrastructure around the world – it builds power plants, railways, ports, and so on.

Outside of its native Asian region, which accounts for most of China’s investment, Africa is in the lead, interestingly, with $ 7.2 billion in Chinese investment in 2020. Among the main debtors of China (and investments imply a return – and so far only 2% of total expenses have been written off over the entire existence of the program) in the region of Angola, Kenya, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Considering that (for example) most of the world’s cobalt production is located in the Congo, it is very promising

In addition to Africa, a lot of funds also go to Latin America (including Chile and Uruguay – quite developed countries) and Europe (mainly Eastern and Southern)
